This is an original miniature drawing in Indian ink by Jenny Chapman. It shows the view from in front of the famous Glenfinnan monument looking south-west down Loch Shiel, in the early afternoon of a fine but frosty day at the end of October.
This drawing is discussed in the Artist’s Journal entry for 21st November 2009.
The image below is a scan of the drawing which has been enlarged to greater than life size in order to show the details more clearly. In reality the image as shown here measures 2 7/8 inches (72 mm) across.

The tiny village of Glenfinnan at the head of Loch Shiel is overshadowed by steep mountains on every side, creating an imposing view from the head of the loch. The first snow of autumn had recently fallen on the higher peaks in the distance, but lower down the trees still held their leaves, and the monument was surrounded by tall grasses and low bushes which sprawled out into the edge of the loch. A large fallen branch was sitting quite still in the shallow water in the foreground.
The drawing is presented in a hand-made natural wooden frame with real miniature glass and is ready to hang, complete with a gold-plated chain.
This is a unique work of art and no prints of it will be made. It is initialled on the front and signed both on the back of the drawing itself (not visible when framed) and on the archival quality backing board, which is sealed to the frame in the traditional way with miniature paper tape. A unique code number is marked on the back, and a signed certificate of authenticity with this code number is also supplied.
