This is a miniature giclée print, offered in a limited edition of 120 and made from an original miniature watercolour painting by Jenny Chapman. It shows a glowing rainbow across the west side of Ben Hiant, seen from Ormsaigmore above the village of Kilchoan (Ardnamurchan) on a typical showery afternoon in early April. Heavy rain showers were sweeping in fast from the sea, creating dramatic light effects as the sun was quite bright in the west. Bands of rain were falling on Ben Hiant itself while, in front of it, Kilchoan was temporarily bathed in sunshine. Under these conditions there is often a fine rainbow across Ben Hiant, which rises steeply from the Sound of Mull to a height of 528m (1732 feet). At the foot of the rainbow you can just see the little row of white-painted houses that lie along Pier Road – the single track road that leads to the jetty used by local fishermen and the ferry to the Isle of Mull.

Dramatic pictures of Highland scenes were very fashionable in Victorian homes. This picture, with its gold-painted moulded frame, looks particularly effective and appropriate in a Victorian room setting.

Work on the original painting is described and illustrated in the Artist’s Journal entries for 7th May 2009, 10th May 2009 and 24th May 2009.

The print is presented in a special resin moulded frame made by artisan Dave Williams to his own design and painted antique gold. It has real miniature glass and is ready to hang, complete with a gold-plated chain.

Each print is numbered and signed both on the back of the print (not visible when framed) and on the archival quality backing board where a signed certificate of authenticity is attached.

This print is a collectors’ item intended for collectors of miniatures and for dolls house enthusiasts. It is not a toy and is not intended for children.
