This is an original miniature drawing by Jenny Chapman. It shows a view looking south-west towards the end of the Sound of Mull on a cold afternoon in early February. The sun had just sunk behind a massive black cloud but it was so bright that brilliant rays of light shot out from behind the cloud, which truly had a silver lining. Across the Sound, the northern tip of the Isle of Mull was lit up by the rays from beneath the cloud. On the shore in the foreground a small boathouse sits deserted for the winter, with a couple of upturned dinghies in the grass and reeds beside it. The noticeboard to the left of the door was looking rather ragged after the winter storms.
Work on this series of images is described in the Artist’s Journal entries for 10th February 2009 and 26th February 2009.
