Copyright and Licensing

The purpose of this Information page is to explain the copyright and licensing issues relating to the work exhibited, sold and made available for free download on the MacAvon Miniatures site.

Copyright

Copyright in all of the original works of art belongs to the artist Jenny Chapman who created them, and copyright in the reproductions shown and made available through this site belongs to MacAvon Miniatures. This remains true regardless of whether or not an original work or a copy of it is sold or given away, reproduced or distributed.

In legal terms this means that you may not copy or distribute any of the pictures or reproductions of them (either in physical media or by electronic means) without explicit permission from us. However, we take a sensible attitude towards personal non-commercial use of copyright material and of course we don’t mind if, for example, you send a copy of a picture by email to a friend. If you want to use an image in a public way – for example, to display on a personal Web page or site – please have the courtesy to contact us, and please make sure that you say where the image came from.

Creative Commons Licence

The material and images made available for download on the Free Stuff page of this site are a special case. These are covered by the terms of a Creative Commons licence:

Creative Commons License
Images on the “Free Stuff” page of the MacAvon Miniatures Web site by Jenny Chapman, MacAvon Miniatures are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 2.5 UK: Scotland License.

If you click on the link above you can read the terms of the licence, or you can find out more about Creative Commons licensing in general at the Creative Commons site.

Basically, this Creative Commons licence gives you permission to copy and distribute the images from the Free Stuff page of this site (and to use them for yourself), but only under certain conditions:

(1) You must give the original “author” (Jenny Chapman and/or MacAvon Miniatures) credit wherever you use the work.

(2) You may not make any commercial use of the work – that is, you may not sell copies of it in any form, or use the images in other work which you sell or in any other commercial way – for example in advertising.

(3) You may not alter or transform the work in any way, or use it as a part of another work.

This Creative Commons licence is marked under the jurisdiction of Scotland, as that is our country of residence, but its terms apply to use anywhere in the world.
